(Jamaica Observer) The man who was arrested and charged in connection with the murder of Karen Cleary-Brown, a returning resident from the United Kingdom, was remanded when he appeared before the St Mary Parish Court on Friday.
The man, 32-year-old Sheldon Hewitt of Boscobel, St Mary, was arrested following inconsistencies detected in a missing person’s report that he filed at the Oracabessa Police Station on behalf of the deceased.
These inconsistencies led the officers to widen their investigation which resulted in the search of Cleary-Brown’s home in Boscobel.
During that search her decomposing body was found in a shallow grave about 5:30 pm, on Monday, December 03.
A post-mortem has since revealed that the deceased was stabbed nine times.
Hewitt is scheduled to appear in the St Mary Parish Court on Thursday, January 10, 2019.
