A Bartica miner was yesterday remanded to prison for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl.
Thirty-six-year-old Shawn Cornelius was not required to plead to the indictable charge which was read to him by Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
The charge stated that during September 2018, Cornelius engaged in sexual penetration of a child under the age of 16.
Magistrate McGusty adjourned the matter until January 7th, 2019 when it will be heard at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court.
