Dear Editor,
Christopher Matthias should be the last person on Planet Earth (and the line is long) to pronounce on football matters in Guyana. I refer to the article in the Stabroek News dated 12th December 2018 under the caption, `Matthias queries rationale for K & S in Futsal Festival’.
As the President of GFF for a short while, Matthias’ cabinet disintegrated tremendously under his watch. This is the first time in living history that FIFA visited these parts (CONCACAF) to rescue a country from its continuous slide to football demolition. Thank you FIFA. In the past FIFA unreservedly came to the rescue of its Member Associations being hassled by the respective Governments. Countries were banned and threatened with suspension after the Government intervened which is contrary to FIFA’s regulations.
You were a critic of Mr Colin Klass but Mr Klass’s status compared to you is like that of a High Priest to your status which was like a choir boy.
In football administration, your modus operandi left much to be desired. You were bordering on being dictatorial, inefficient and autocratic. You were very deceitful and many times persons found you out to be devious.
The Kashif & Shanghai Organisation was unceremoniously removed by you because you felt you had the capacity and capability to organize a football tournament of such magnitude. Your attempts fizzled out and died a natural death; this showed you that you did not have the capacity and wherewithal to be an effective leader and organizer.
The present GFF Executive in an effort to have the football venues filled again to capacity in their wisdom contracted out the running of their first ever International Futsal Tournament to the K & S Organization. Your rant and rave of who owns the tournament is the least of the matter and it confirms the petty and callous manner of how you think.
You were never the man to save football but using your shrewd and fluent speech you influenced persons to support you, but fate (FIFA) intervened. Flowery and flawless speech will not work, football is a fast-paced sport.
So, Mr Matthias I urge you to just get on to your proverbial horse and just ride off into the night so you can be exiled in the wilderness and leave football administration to the experts.
Yours faithfully,
Collin Aaron
General Secretary
Kashif & Shanghai Organization
