A man who police found with five grammes of cannabis in his car, was on Tuesday fined for the offence, after he pleaded guilty before a city court.
Police said they pulled Kevin Garnett (no address given) over on December 14, at about 9 a.m., on the Patentia Public Road, West Bank Demerara, after he was seen acting in a suspicious manner. Garnett was asked to subject himself to a search and during the search, five grammes of cannabis was found concealed in a plastic bag, which was at the time secured in a handbag.
Garnett pleaded guilty to the charge and was asked to pay a $10,000 fine.
