Timehri Panthers kept their hopes alive of securing the East Bank Football Association [EBFA]/Ralph Green U11 League championship, dismantling Diamond Upsetters 4-0 yesterday at the Diamond Community Centre ground.
Shaquelle Caleb commenced the rout compliments of a third-minute conversion, before the tournament’s leading forward Omar Sam, tallied his 22nd conversion with a strike in the fifth minute to make it 2-0.
Josiah Williams then got into the scoring act, etching his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 25th minute. The scoreline was completed one minute onward, as Keron Williams added his name to the scorer’s sheet.
The result ensured that Timehri will enter the final matchday tomorrow at the same venue, needing a victory to seal the title. Presently they sit on 27 points. Grove Hi-Tech are assured of second place after finishing their allotment of games on 30 points.
On the other hand, the battle for the third and fourth positions respectively will also be decided, when Agricola opposes Swan FC. Both teams are on 25 points, but Agricola possess the superior goal differential of +30 to Swan’s +28.
A victory for either side alongside a loss for Timehri Panthers will result in a second place finish and Grove Hi-Tech walking away with the title.
Meanwhile, Samatta Point/Kaneville and Agricola Red Triangle defeated Herstelling Raiders and Friendship All-Stars via respective walkovers. Also, a no-contest was declared as both Kuru-Kururu Warriors and Mocha Champs failed to arrive at the venue.
The top four finishers will receive replicas and medals, while individual prizes will be awarded to the Most Valuable Player [MVP], Best Goalkeeper, Highest Goal Scorer, Most Promising Player, Most Disciplined Player and Best Coach.
