AFC expels Charrandas Persaud

Governing coalition partner the Alliance for Change (AFC) today said that it has expelled Charrandas Persaud over his vote in favour of yesterday’s no-confidence motion against the government.

While declaring last evening that APNU+AFC felt “betrayed” by the actions of its Member of Parliament (MP) Charrandas Persaud, Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo says that the government has accepted that it lost the motion of no-confidence brought against it by the PPP/C and the relevant constitutional provisions will kick in.

Retrial ordered in Providence bike murder case

A day after sending a matter back to the High Court for a retrial over Justice Navindra Singh’s failure to advise a jury on considering the question of self defence raised by a murder accused, the Guyana Court of Appeal yesterday remitted another one for the same reason.

If there were an award for table tennis club of the year, it would surely go to the Titans Table Tennis Club (TTTC) for its exceptional contribution to the sport in 2018.   TTTC under the guidance of President Dwain Dick was able to organize and serve off four tournaments during the year, with the assistance of corporate Guyana.   The club also marshalled into the national spotlight, some of Guyana’s most exciting youngsters including Jonathan Van Lange, Niran Bissu, Thuraia Thomas, Dhanesh Persaud, Jasmine Billingy and Colin Wong.
