A crime prevention workshop, which was expected to be attended by the Minister of Public Security, Khemraj Ramjattan, was cancelled unexpectedly yesterday morning, following the unavailability of police officers.  On Friday evening, a media invitation was sent by the Ministry of Public Security for media to attend a crime prevention workshop at the Parfaite Harmonie Primary School on the West Bank of Demerara.

The Lucas Stock Index (LSI) rose 5.49 percent during the third period of trading in December 2018.  The stocks of four companies were traded with 249,762 shares changing hands.  There were four Climbers and no Tumblers. The stocks of Banks DIH (DIH) rose 9.59 percent on the sale of 193,585 shares and the stocks of the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) rose 7.30 percent on the sale of 2,700 shares. The stocks of Republic Bank Limited (RBL) also rose 6.67 percent on the sale of 53,023 shares and   stocks of the Demerara Tobacco Company (DTC) rose 0.53 percent on the sale of 454 shares. The LSI closed at 510.89.
