Emerging giant Timehri Panthers were crowned the East Bank Football Association [EBFA]/Ralph Green U11 League champions after dismantling Friendship All-Stars 2-0 yesterday at the Diamond Community Centre ground.
Entering the match on 27 points and needing a victory to secure the title from Grove Hi-Tech who ended their campaign on 29 points, Timehri Panthers got off to the perfect start as the eventual Highest Goal Scorer awardee Captain Omar Sam, recorded his 23rd conversion in the seventh minute.
The title was then secured in the 25th minute as the event’s Most Valuable Player [MVP] Keron Williams fashioned the second goal.
Meanwhile, Agricola Red Triangle edged Swan FC 4-3 to secure third place. Mikel Morris bagged a double in the 14th and 29th minute while Trevor Gordon and Jonathan Andries scored in the fifth and 13th minute respectively.
Most Promising Player awardee Anderson Webber led Swan with a hat-trick in the first, second and 12th minute. In total it was his 20th strike of the event. The top four finishers walked away with trophies and medals.
On the other hand, Samatta Point/Kaneville and Diamond played to a 1-1 draw. Ricky Ramotar handed Diamond the lead in the fifth minute only for Troy Greene to equalise in the 25th minute.
On the individual side of the presentation, Zewdi Francois of Grove Hi-Tech copped the Best Goalkeeper Accolade, while Jamal Cordis of Grove Hi-Tech walked away with the Most Disciplined Player award. Each individual category winner received a plaque and backpack.
Colin David, head-coach of Timehri Panthers received the Best Coach Award, while Swan FC collected the Most Disciplined Team accolade.
In the special awards section, referees Colin David, Dawn Joseph and Orien Angoy were recognized for the efforts during the event. They were each presented with a medal and a whistle.
Similarly, EBFA Secretary Wayne Francois was also recognised for his contribution. He was presented with a branded ball and a medal. Likewise, Swan FC’s goalkeeper Kedon Nazir, a differently-abled player, received a special prize on behalf of Grove Hi-Tech Coach Braithwaite for his impressive displays.
