A Corentyne youth yesterday morning succumbed to his injuries after he was involved in an accident at Number 59 Village, Corentyne while a teenager who was also in the car has since been admitted in the hospital in a serious condition.
Dead is Romel Drepaul Saul, 23, of Number 51 Village, Corentyne.
According to information gathered, Saul was proceeding north along the Number 59 Village, Corentyne public road in motor car PVV 1120 around 6 am when he slammed into an abandoned refrigerator. His car then toppled several times, after which it came to a halt in a nearby drain.
Akesha Beaton,18, also of Number 51 Village Corentyne, who was also in the car, is currently hospitalised at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital in a serious condition.
Stabroek News was told that both persons were rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital and then transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where Saul succumbed.
Traffic officers in B Division are presently conducting an investigation.
