A man charged with armed robbery was granted bail on Friday, while his counterpart was remanded to prison after he was also charged with escaping police custody at the magistrates’ court in Georgetown.
Levon Cameron and Kevin Wilson were both accused of robbing Mahadeo Sookram of a cellular phone valued $40,000, on December 25 at D’Urban street, Georgetown. They were said to be armed with a knife. They both pleaded not guilty to the charge and Cameron was granted $40,000 bail.
Wilson, however, was remanded to prison after another charge alleged that on December 27, at the East Ruimveldt police outpost, he escaped the custody of the police pending an armed robbery charge. Wilson, who was swiftly re-arrested, pleaded guilty to the charge.
