Several persons have so far been arrested in relation to the robbery which left two Bushlot, Corentyne farmers dead on Monday evening.
Commander of B Division, Paul Langevine this morning told Stabroek News, that several persons were arrested for questioning yesterday. He said that he could not give an actual figure as to how many are in custody as of this time but promised to provide an update later in the day.
On Monday around 7.45 pm, Harricharran Samaroo also known as “Davo”, 46, and Premcharran Samaroo, also known as “Tullie” 44, both of Bushlot Farm, Corentyne were killed at their mother’s house located at Lot 446 Bushlot Village, Corentyne.
Stabroek News was told that the men were shot after they rushed to their mother’s backyard to investigate sounds of a gunshot.
Harricharran was also beaten while Premcharran was shot multiple times in the head and face.
Harricharran was rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he succumbed just after midnight on Monday. His brother died on the spot.
Their mother, Irene Samaroo, 60, had stated that her sons were having a drink with her cousin Munnilall Robert Kumar, who came into the country on Sunday last, when the three attackers invaded their home.
According to the woman, the bandits were all masked. She said two were armed with guns while the third carried a cutlass.
They also broadsided her cousin Kumar.
The bandits escaped with less than $80,000 in US and Guyana currency.
Both bodies are presently at the Ramoo Funeral Parlour awaiting post-mortem examinations.
