Security guard, Jermaine Bristol, who was last August charged with the murder of his girlfriend, was yesterday committed to stand trial at the High Court.
The charge against Bristol alleged that he, on August 22, 2018, at Freeman Street, East La Penitence, murdered Shanece Lawrence.
The preliminary inquiry into the murder charge concluded yesterday, with Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, finding sufficient evidence to commit the accused to stand trial for the murder at the High Court, before a judge and jury.
The victim, Lawrence, succumbed after she was stabbed multiple times. Bristol subsequently made his way to the Brickdam Police Station, where he was arrested after reportedly confessing to the crime.
The couple had been involved for about four years and started living together in June of 2018. Previous reports indicated that Lawrence was physically abused by Bristol. A report had been filed months before by Lawrence, after they got into an altercation at a city hotel, where Bristol allegedly threw away all of her belongings, including her clothing.
