(Trinidad Express) Commissioner Gary Griffith said yesterday he is going to arm his police officers with non-lethal weapons like pepper spray and stun guns in the next few weeks.

Griffith said also that he plans to use strategies employed by New York police to reduce the number of women killed by domestic violence.

Speaking on TV6’s Morning Edition programme Griffith said: “I remember a year ago we spoke about pepper spray and someone said that pepper spray is not in the budget. But it is $100 for one pepper spray so now I am getting pepper spray in the next few weeks and stun guns,” he said.
