The Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ West Demerara/East Bank Demerara playoff round will kick-off on Sunday at the Pouderoyen Tarmac from 9:00am.
According to tournament coordinator Travis ‘Zoti’ Bess, “We have received an increase in team submissions so we expect a highly competitive playoff tournament as the teams vie for the eight remaining berths to the main draw.”
Bess further revealed, “Among the team submissions are several newcomers who are desperate for an opportunity to test their abilities against the notable sides. The deadline for submissions is Saturday so that the fixtures for the playoff round can be finalised.”
The West Demerara/East Bank Demerara leg of the main draw is slated to commence on Friday 18th at the Pouderoyen Tarmac. The tournament, which is slated to last for six nights, will feature 16 teams competing in an initial group format.
The top two finishers from each group will advance to the quarterfinal round. The other playing dates are January 25th, February 1st, 6th, and 8th, with the final pencilled for the 15th.
The eight teams that have already sealed their place to the main draw are three time defending champion Showstoppers, Hustlers, Dream-Team, Boom-Bang, Rising Stars, Ballers Empire, West Side Ballers and ESPN.
