Sandals international has announced its withdrawal from a proposed resort in Tobago.
The “unfortunate ” decision was announced by Sandals Gebhard Rainer at a press conference at the Office of the Prime Minister in Port of Spain today.
Rainer said the decision to retreat was the result of constant negativity from some quarters in T&T, including from the media.
He said Sandals still loves TT and sees its potential but persistent negativity around the brand is not in keeping with its work and image.
National Security Minister Stuart Young said government would not give up in what could have been a major economic booster for Tobago but deemed today a “sad and disappointing day”.
