West Indies youth player, Mavindra Dindyal, capped a good all-round performance for the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) as they recorded victories over Georgetown Eco Champs and Malteenoes during the Georgetown Cricket Association/Friends of Cricket Under-17 tournament.
On Saturday, at GCC, the home team handed Eco Champs a 155-run clobbering with Dindyal smashing 116, with seven fours and a single six to see his team post 228-8 from their 55 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat first. Romel Datterdeen chipped in with 18. Byron Bowen and Keon Wright managed two wickets each for 29 and 33 runs respectively.
In reply, Eco Champs reached 73-8 from 45 overs with Yohance Angoy taking 4-16 while Darius Andrews (2-7) and Dindyal (3-6) supported.
GCC retuned on Sunday, this time hosting Malteenoes whom they defeated by 123 runs. GCC won the toss and batted first with Dindyal stroking five boundaries before being dismissed for 48. Datterdeen was also in fine form, scoring 46 with two boundaries. With Ariyan Persaud contributing 29 runs, GCC managed 186 all out in 54 overs, Chad Shivrattan bagged 2-28.
In the chase, Malteenoes lasted just 30 overs and crawled to 63-9 with Dindyal taking 3-8 and Persaud returning to bag 2-4
