Two men were yesterday remanded for allegedly breaking and entering a city store and stealing over $13 million in cash.
It is alleged that between January 10th, 2019, and January 11th, 2019, at King Street, Georgetown, Patrick Smith and Nathan Trotman broke and entered Bissan’s Trading and stole $13.1 million, which was the property of Bissoondyal Singh.
Trotman, who was represented by attorney Euclin Gomes, pleaded not guilty as did Smith after the charge was read to them by Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in Georgetown.
In objecting to bail, Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh noted that Trotman was charged before for similar offences and has pending charges for unlawful possession of a firearm without a licence and narcotics trafficking. Singh also said Smith was previously charged and convicted and served three years in prison.
As a result, Magistrate Daly refused to grant bail to the two men and remanded them to prison until February 11th, 2019, when their next hearing is scheduled.
