Jamaica: Munga makes emotional first appearance after fatal car crash

Munga Honorebel

(Jamaica Observer) Munga Honorebel delivered an emotional performance at the University of Technology’s party series, College Rave Thursdays, held at the institution’s St Andrew campus on Thursday.

It was the singjay’s first public appearance since his involvement in last Saturday’s fatal crash which left one person dead.

Midway through his set, the artiste broke down in tears.

“Can you help me give thanks?! Jah knows best, so I won’t stress. I lost a close friend last weekend, a very close friend and it hurts more than even physical pain. I want to say condolences for the whole family,” he told the audience, while seated. “I had to be here tonight…”

The audience was supportive as he fought through to render some of his most popular songs like The Prayer, Give Me Your Love, and Nah Mad.

He was accompanied by Charly Black to perform No Downfall.

Last Saturday, the police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) reported that Munga Honorebel (given name Damian Rhoden) was driving a Toyota Axio car in the vicinity of Ferry about 5:50 am when he crashed into a Suzuki Vitara claiming the life of his Canadian friend Tashana Cumbermack.

The artiste subsequently disputed these claims in a social media post by saying that he and his friend were asleep in the back of the vehicle when the tragedy struck.
