Home side Georgetown Football Club [GFC] edged Fruta Conquerors Reserve team on penalty kicks to reach Sunday’s final of the Stag Beer ‘Revival Cup’.
Following a 1-1 stalemate at the GFC ground, Bourda, the hosts secured the coveted place in the grand finale by edging the Tucville side 3-2 on penalty kicks.
Prior to the conclusion, the visitors took the lead in the 35th minute through veteran utility man Delon Williams.
However, the lead proved short-lived as LaVaughn Ennis etched his name on the scorer’s sheet four minutes later.
Following a keenly-contested second half, Fruta Conquerors was presented with a glorious opportunity to seal the result when they were awarded a penalty in the 85th minute.
Tasked with the responsibility from the mark, Williams inexplicably failed to convert sending the fixture into extra time.
GFC will now oppose the Guyana Police Force [GPF] at the same venue for the title after the lawmen defeated GT Panthers 2-1 in an earlier semi-final.
The two losing semi-finalists will face off in the third place playoff.
