The Ministry of Social Protection and its Probation and Social Services Department on Monday held its annual Staff Conference at Pegasus and the importance of service to shut-in persons was emphasized.
According to the Department of Public Information (DPI), Minister of Social Protection, Amna Ally said the ultimate goal is to provide exceptional service to the public, with an improved distribution of pension books to elderly persons at Shut-In Facilities. She said that it is vital that the staff of the Probation and Social Services Department become acquainted with the procedures to provide services to Shut-In patients in order to efficiently distribute pension books.
The Minister said that 2019 will be an action-oriented year aimed at igniting dedication and discipline when providing services to senior citizens throughout Guyana.
“…we are a service ministry and it must not only be name but nature as well,” Ally said.
Additionally, she said that the ministry has the capacity to guide and facilitate change in the lives of persons. The Minister stressed that the staff have a clear moral and ethical responsibility to empower clients and address both private and public issues that fall within their mandate.
