Sean Goodluck, who was recently charged with three counts of armed robbery, was yesterday brought before a city court and faced with two more charges stemming from an attack on a Pizza Hut deliveryman.
Goodluck, 23, was read the two charges by Senior Magistrate Faith McGusty at Georgetown.
The first charge alleged that on January 7th, at Stevedore Housing Scheme, West Ruimveldt, the accused, in the company of another and armed with a gun, robbed Jason Busby of a Honda XR motorcycle, bearing identification number CJ 4339. The motorcycle was valued at $435,000.
It is further alleged that on January 9th, at West Ruimveldt, Goodluck fraudulently imitated identification number CJ 7296, which was placed on the stolen bike.
The accused denied both charges.
According to the facts presented by Police Prosecutor Annalisa Brummell, the accused, on January 7th, contacted Pizza Hut and placed an order to be delivered. The complainant, who received the order, is reported to have gone to the location and made contact with Goodluck, who, using a handgun, relieved him of the motorcycle and escaped.
Sometime after, Goodluck was arrested and charged for armed robbery and the motorcycle was found. Busby, observing Goodluck’s photograph in the Kaieteur News newspaper, subsequently went to the East La Penitence Police Station and made a report, resulting in the new charges against Goodluck.
Attorney Stanley Moore, who represented the accused, told the court that his client was remanded to prison on January 11th on other armed robbery charges but has no convictions. The attorney then made an application for bail, saying that Goodluck was sure to return to court.
His request was denied by the magistrate and Goodluck was remanded to prison and the matters were later adjourned until February 20th.
