Half centuries from Essequibo franchise players, Kevon Boodie and Kemol Savory steered Police to a commanding eight-wicket win over Ace Warriors at the Muslim Youth Organisation ground Saturday in the Georgetown Cricket Association/New Building Society (NBS) second-division 40 overs tournament.
Ace Warriors scampered to 145 in 30.1 overs on the small Woolford Avenue ground but Police mowed down the target with Savory scooping Roger Aarons onto the road to bring up his half century as well as seal the win reaching 146-2 in the 14th overs.
Boodie found success with a boundary off the first delivery of the chase, clipping a Yukim Favourite delivery into the fence, before finishing off the over in the same fashion.
Boodie showed his aggression with four boundaries off of Alister Graham. He clobbered 13 fours and a pair of sixes straight down the ground off of Selwin Collier whose two overs cost 13 and 22 runs respectively. Boodie finished on 68 from 35 balls, nicking a delivery from off spinner Devindra Lall to the wicket keeper.
Boodie shared in a 73-run opening stand with Reginald Rodrigues (10) who was also dismissed by Lall.
Savory started his innings cautiously but shifted gear with the target drawing closer, eventually hitting eight fours and two sixes during his unbeaten 53 that came from 25 balls. Lall ended with 2-17.
Earlier, Ace Warriors began their innings with a half century opening stand between Rawle Enmore (16) and Colin McPherson (28).
The top order got starts with Lall (25), Aarons (19) and Laurel Parks (17) but lost wickets consistently as off spinner Vishaul Jaigobin bagged 3-15 and Darson Larose supported with 2-19.
