Dear Editor,
Aware that I have been teaching literacy and numeracy for many years, many people have asked my opinion on the minimum majority of 65 after the recent no-confidence vote. Allow me to state categorically that it is 33 to 32.
To hold otherwise would be to negate all the sound calculations that I have stood for in the 50 years since I started teaching. I must also add that it is a matter of intense disappointment that a former model student and a good friend of the family are the originator and propagator of this unreason.
Long ago such a thing would evoke pitying looks in the eyes of international colleagues. Now they would just shrug wearily at one more nonsense in the politics of materialism.
Yours faithfully,
Alfred Bhulai
