A city magistrate yesterday committed former murder accused Odinga Greene to stand trial for the rape of a 13-year-old girl.
The charge against Greene, of Station Street, Kitty, alleges that between November 1st, 2016 and November 30th, 2016, he engaged in sexual penetration of a child below the age of 16.
At the conclusion of the preliminary inquiry into the charge against him yesterday, Greene learnt from Magistrate Leron Daly that he was committed to stand trial at the High Court for the crime. He will remain on bail until that time.
Police prosecutor Quinn Harris led the cases against Greene.
Greene was previously charged with the February, 2007 murder of Nazaline Mohamed, who was found in Linden after he picked her up from her East Ruimveldt home. He was freed after a trial in September, 2015.
Prior to that, Greene was convicted and sentenced to death in 2004 for the murder of Sandra Harvey, who was found in a valley at Wisroc, Linden in 1999, with her hands tied behind her back, her mouth gagged and her body propped up against a tree stump. Greene, however, appealed the verdict and won the right to a second trial, which resulted in him going free.
