Dear Editor,
I am one of the many residents of Region #10 who travelled from Aroaima, Kwakwani, Ituni, Rockstone, Linden and other areas too numerous to mention to attend the opening of the Region #3 People’s National Congress-Reform office at Vreed-en-Hoop on the West Coast of Demerara. What was evident is that Region #10 demonstrated our support for the PNCR and the AFC coalition by being there in numbers and recognizable with our brigade band who entertained the massive crowd with their drumming. The slogan written boldly on the stage “We are better together” should be posted in every space in our country in order to eliminate racial and political profiling and to see ourselves as Guyanese.
One of the famous speeches made by the Honourable President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Mr. David Granger after his inauguration in 2015 stated in part “I do not regard this as a victory, I see it as an opportunity, for one side to win 207,000 votes and the other side to win 202, 000 votes is not a grand victory. Rather it is an opportunity for collaboration, not conflict, for a contract to cooperate and to understand that working together, not fighting is the formula of the future”.
In Region #10 while some progress has been made on roads and structural rehabilitation, much more needs to be done in order to reduce some frustration caused by unemployment, water shortage in most areas, unlighted streets and many other things.
I am a proud Lindener and I call on the Regional and Local Government administration to operate maturely within the mandate of governance in order to make Linden – Region #10 proud.
I was taught many years ago, “If you want to go fast, go it alone, if you want to go far, go it together”.
We are better together.
Yours faithfully,
Winslow B. Parris
