he 7th edition of the Milo Secondary School Football Championship, commences today at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue with three slated group matches.
At 12:00hrs, President’s College will oppose Marian Academy, while the second fixture will pit the Bishops’ High against North Ruimveldt from 13:45hrs.
In the final fixture, Queen’s College will lock horns with St. Stanislaus College at 15:30hrs. The tournament continues tomorrow at the same venue with another round of group fixtures.
In the opening matchup, Annandale Secondary takes aim at St. Joseph High from 12:00hrs, while South Ruimveldt lock horns with Canje Secondary at 13:45hrs.
The final match will pit Lodge Secondary against St. Mary’s Secondary from 15:30hrs.
The tourney which is slated to conclude on April 14th, features 24 teams divided into six groups of four.
Unlike the previous editions, three time winner Chase Academy, Morgan Learning Center, Masters Academy and Sir Leon Lessons will not feature.
Upon the conclusion of the group stage, the top two finishers in each pool, alongside the best four third place teams, advance to the elimination round.
On the other hand, Group-E features Lodge Secondary, President’s College, Marian Academy and St. Mary’s, while group-F consist of Vergenoegen, Charlestown, Tucville and Tutorial,
Winner of the competition receives $500,000 towards a school project and the championship trophy. Similarly, the second, third and fourth-placed sides pocket $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively towards a school initiative and a trophy.
