Santos, Guyana Police Force [GPF], Buxton Stars and Soesdyke Falcons secured their berths to the final round of the Guyana Football Federation [GFF] Elite League Playoffs, following victories yesterday at the National Training Centre, Providence.
Santos crushed West Demerara unit Eagles 8-0. Jermaine Beckles smashed a hat-trick in the 17th, 19th and 60th minute while Orin Yarde added a double in the 40th and 82nd minute.
Adding goals in the 31st, 75th and 89th minute were Jermin Padmore, Trevor Lewis and Ryan October respectively. Similarly, GPF arrested Rivers View of Bartica 4-1. Steffon Ramsay, Quincy Holder, Darren Benjamin and Deon Rodney tallied goals in the 26th, 48th, 60th and 83rd minute respectively. On the other side, Omario Lake scored in the 27th minute.
Meanwhile, Buxton Stars needled Georgetown Football Club [GFC] 1-0. Shemar McPherson recorded the winner in the 29th minute.
Also, Soesdyke upset Elite League participant New Amsterdam [NA] United 5-4 on penalty kicks after regulation time ended in a 3-3 tie.
Prior to the penalty shoot-out, T, Khan, R. Benson and Colin McLean scored in the 34th, 78th and 80th minute respectively for Soesdyke. For the Berbicians, Jamal Butts bagged a double in the s ixth and 32nd minute while Leonardo Adams netted in the 56th minute.
The event continues today at the same venue. Santos will faceoff with GPF in the feature clash, following the Buxton Stars and Soesdyke encounter.
