After explaining himself to a city court, a 48-year-old man was granted bail, after he was accused of falsely obtaining a sum of money for his own purposes.
Collin Hodge was granted bail in the sum of $50,000, after he pleaded not guilty to a charge which alleged that on October 5, 2018, at Georgetown, he obtained an advance of $300,000 from Nikesha Douglas, by falsely pretending that his car was for sale.
Hodge, in his defence, stated that he did indeed advertise that his car was for sale. He said Douglas indicated her interest and paid him a sum of $300,000. Later, however, Douglas decided she wasn’t interested in buying the car anymore and subsequently asked him for the money but he was no longer in possession of the money. He then told her that he would pay her back as soon as he sold the car but Douglas broke off contact with him.
With no objections by Prosecutor Sanj Singh, Hodge was granted bail and the matter was adjourned until February 15, 2019.
