A 23-year-old man was yesterday granted his release on $150,000 bail after he was charged with raping a 13-year-old girl.
Ranley Peters, of Bartica, was accused of engaging in sexual activity with a child below the age of 16, between January 1st and January 31st.
Peters was not required to enter a plea to the charge, which was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in Georgetown.
He was later granted bail and is set to make his next court appearance before the Bartica Magistrate’s Court on February 21st.
