Investigations are currently ongoing to determine the cause of the fire that left a minibus charred at Hague and three persons injured.
The Route 32 minibus went up in flames last Thursday after it collided with a utility pole at Hague, West Coast Demerara.
According to commander of ‘D’ Division, Edmond Cooper, investigations to determine the cause of the fire are still ongoing. The driver of the minibus was taken into police custody but was released on station bail.
As a result of the accident, three persons were injured and taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, two persons were however released from the hospital after being treated for minor injuries while the conductor of the minibus, Carlton Alfred remains at the hospital nursing first degree burns to his arms and abdomen.
Alfred had previously told Stabroek News that the driver of the minibus overtook a car and was alerted by a passenger about a fire in the minibus. He also believes that subsequent to the driver making a glance at the back of the bus that the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The bus was the third vehicle to go up in flames within two days as a minibus last Wednesday caught afire on Sheriff Street and a car on the same day caught afire on the western carriageway of Avenue of the Republic.
