The country’s top male and female players will be in action this evening when the Guyana Squash Association’s annual Bounty Farm Limited Handicap tournament commences at the Georgetown Club courts from 6pm.
Top male players Alex Arjoon, Steven Xavier, Regan Pollard and Deje Dias and female stars Ashley Kahlil and Taylor Fernandes, not to mention Abosaide Cadogan are all expected to compete in the GSA’s first tournament for 2019.
Some 44 participants are down to compete in the two category (Open and Category A) competition.
According to a press release from the GSA, each player will be awarded a number of points either positive or negative in an effort to level the playing field and allow weaker players an opportunity of winning the battle of stamina, patience and skill. In Category A, defending champion, Michael Alphonso, will battle an array of improved players, including Nicholas Verwey, Cadogan and Kristen Gomes in an effort to retain his title.
Games will run each evening in the week from 6pm and throughout the day on Saturday afternoon.
The tournament will end Sunday.
