A teen was yesterday remanded to prison after he was charged with the murder of a farmer at Koriabo Village, North West District.
Ronell Henry, 19, was read the charge, which stated that on February 5th, he unlawfully killed Orlando Joseph, who was shot with an arrow.
Henry was not required to plead to the indictable charge, which was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in Georgetown.
Police prosecutor Gordon Mansfield told the court that on the day in question, Henry was in company of his mother and others drinking when an argument ensued. It was then, the prosecutor stated, that Henry armed himself with a bow and arrow and shot Joseph in the right side of his abdomen. Joseph was then taken to the Mabaruma Hospital, where he was admitted a patient. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Subsequent to the facts presented to the court, the Chief Magistrate remanded the accused to prison until February 19th, when the matter is to be called at the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court.
