Natasha Sobers, the Wales resident who was critically injured over a week ago following an accident that claimed the life of her boyfriend, Trevon Butters, along Princes Street, in Georgetown, remains hospitalised, Traffic Chief Linden Isles has said.
When contacted for an update on Sobers’ condition yesterday, Isles told Stabroek News that she remains in a ward at a city hospital. Her condition is listed as stable.
The accident occurred around 3.45 am on February 4th, after the car in which Butters and Sobers was travelling in crashed into a parked truck.
Butters, also known as ‘Yankee,’ 35, a resident of Lot 238 Caneview Avenue, South Ruimveldt, died on spot, while Sobers, 25, a resident of Wales, West Bank Demerara, was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
This newspaper was previously informed that Butters and Sobers, who shared a relationship, were proceeding in his car, PNN 8969, west along the southern carriageway of Princes Street, Werk-en-Rust, allegedly at a fast rate of speed.
While in the vicinity of the city outpost, he reportedly lost control of the car and collided with the rear of the truck, GFF 9764 which was parked on the northern side of the road.
Butters was trapped in the car after the accident and he had to be removed by members of the Guyana Fire Service.
Sobers, who was seated in the front passenger seat, was pitched some distance away.
Information reaching this newspaper revealed that at the time of the accident Butters, who was employed as a security guard at a city night spot, was returning to work.
It is suspected that he was intoxicated.
