Golden Grove and Cummings Lodge secured hard-fought wins when the 7th Milo Secondary School Football Championship, continued yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Golden Grove downed St. Cuthbert’s Mission 2-0. Jeffrey Charles and Andrew Sathwell scored in the 32nd and 64th minute respectively.
On the other hand, Cummings Lodge upset Uitvlugt 2-1. Keion Harmer and Simon Ifill recorded conversions in the 10th and 56th minute. For the loser, Mickel McKend netted in the 68th minute.
Meanwhile, Charlestown and Tucville battled to a 2-2 stalemate. Isaiah Moore and Dante Sookram scored for Charlestown in the 18th and 38th minute.
For Tucville, Dwayne Jones netted in the 39th minute, while an own goal in the 52nd minute provided the equaliser.
The tournament continues today at the same venue with another round of group fixtures. In the opening matchup, Ann’s Grove Secondary takes aim at Friendship from 12:00hrs, while Christianburg/Wismar lock horns with St. John’s College at 13:45hrs.
The final match will pit Tutorial Secondary against Vergenoegen Secondary from 15:30hrs.
