The Rufous-throated Antbird (Gymnopithys rufigula) is confined to the Guiana Shield, where it inhabits the understory of lowland terra firme forests.
As its name indicates, this bird is rufous throated. Its head is brownish-black and its upperparts olive-brown. Its wings and tail are a dark yellow and it has a white interscapular patch.
Its diet comprises arthropods in the main, but spiders and small lizards have also been recorded, and the species usually forages low above the ground.
