Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) walloped Queen’s College by 207 runs while Guyana National Industrial Cooperation (GNIC) scampered to a one-wicket win over Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) on Saturday in the Georgetown Cricket Association’s Noble House Seafoods Generation Next Under-19 tournament.
Playing at the Alberttown-based, DCC, the home team took first strike and raced to 262-6 declared from 36 overs before bundling out Queen’s College for a paltry 55 in 18 overs.
DCC’s batting was centered around, West Indies Youth captain, Sachin Singh with 75 consisting of four fours and four sixes. Singh was supported by Alphius Bookie who also stroked four fours and four sixes during his innings of 56 that laid the foundation for Nkosi Beaton to come in and stroke a brisk 54 laced with three fours and three sixes.
The 14-year-old Jadon Campbell got amongst the runs against the sup-par bowling to contribute 40 towards DCC’s total.
National under-19 player and skipper of the Secondary Institution, Navindra Singh along with Anthony Singh returned two wickets each for 53 and 34 runs respectively while Vickash Persaud and Jaydon Alves bagged one wicket a piece.
In reply, Daniel Mootoo and Haddem Paris were too much to handle for the schoolboys, taking 4-7 and 3-15 respectively.
Only Brandon Jaikaran managed double figures with 13 that featured two boundaries.
Meanwhile, over at GYO in Woolford Avenue, the home side batted first, posting 129 in 28.1 overs but GNIC scampered to 130-9 in 27 overs.
GYO slipped to 35-3 but their innings was revived with a quick-fire 46 from Joshua Thomas who struck six sixes down the ground, five of which came off the bowling of Trevon Jones’ fourth over.
Saha Deonarine and Philip McTurk were the only other batsmen with double figure scores of 15 and 11 respectively.
Jeremiah Benjamin finished with 4-17 and was supported by Trevon Charles with 8-2.
