The annual Trophy Stall golf tournament will get underway on Saturday at the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC).
At a simple ceremony at the sponsor’s South Road, Bourda location, President of the LGC, Aleem Hussain, praised the company for its dedication to the club.
“Trophy Stall has been one of our strongest supporters,” he declared adding…”we can always count on the company to come out and support the golfers.”
He predicted a massive turnout, crediting the conditions of the ground to be in a remarkable state.
According to Hussain, the tournament is expected to feature around 35-40 golfers with one of the front runners being Robert Hanoman who at the last event, shot the lowest score in the history of his career and the lowest net score of the year at 63.
He also listed Richard Haniff, Patanjalee Persaud, Romel Bhagwandin, Patrick Prashad, Joaan Deo, Avinash Persaud and others as some of the contenders come Saturday.
He also pointed out that throughout the six tournaments for the year, the turnout has been exceptional and the competition very tough.
Speaking on behalf of the company, co-proprietor, Devi Sunich expressed her confidence in the club and its promotion of family activities, suggesting this was one of the key aspects to their continued support of the event.
Sunich added that the company was also in support of all sports in Guyana.
The event starts at 8.00hrs and interested persons can come out and learning to play the game free of cost and also enjoy BBQ, fishing and other activities.
