Regarding Speaker Scotland, Mr Nadir
Mindful of my self-imposed caution not to contribute to any inflammatory rhetoric in this sudden season of political constitutional controversy and open and covert election campaigning, I resort to creative speculation today. Hence the question marks in my caption at the very top.
What follows are my hypothetical scenarios to describe, reveal machinations – especially – when senior party politicians “caucus” to plan the retention or acquisition of political managerial power (over us). But, mind you, I do have some actual insights regarding these matters. Only my residual ethics usually prevent me from quoting names.

At Congress Place and State House
So there was a No-Confidence Vote deemed successfully carried by the Opposition. So ruled the Assembly’s Speaker and his Clerk. Most citizens who bother to be concerned know what followed. The APNU’s Leader PNC (forget “R”), is now in aggressive election campaign mode utilizing all the governmental resources at its disposal – all the incumbents usually do. And even as that same PNC manipulates every strategy – seemingly with the collusion of His Excellency’s GECOM Chairman – to delay inevitable elections.
The last campaign War Room strategy session threw up the following concepts and programmes: All tactics to delay elections are working. The Comrade Leader must say little – he is still recuperating. Jagdeo is handicapped by not knowing an actual election date. Strategies for post-March and post court-decisions will be discussed next week.
For right now we’ll utilise Mashramani distractions to keep our base entertained and fired up. Next week the plan is for Ministers to do all they did in the Rupununi, in other selected areas where a significant few who favour Jagdeo will accept the goodies and actually be “influenced.” Our new “neutral” professionals will now pen supportive letters and editorials in the print media. Continue using those anti-PPP video flashbacks on social media. Joe wants the army to mount a few preparatory crowd-control exercises. (What y’all think? GDF? Or police? Or reserve?) Finally for now, remind Keith to organize selection of the comrades for training as vital Polling Day officials. Go to work ’til next week!

Over at Freedom House and Red House
Doctor Comrade General Secretary has to marshall his troops. Keep their spirits lifted. Concepts: We don’t really care for elections in March but can never let that be known! Granger’s APNU and all their current activities will win the elections for us – whenever they are held. Holding on to the Amerindian vote is crucial. Those comrades will take all that Granger is sharing out but either vote for us or just stay away. We must continue our strategy with Shuman. He is shrewd but also very ambitious.
Are the new programmes for Freedom Radio prepared? Have all the pandits in Regions Two, Three, Four and Six been contacted and briefed? Our Afro-Guyanese campaigners will be fanning out into Albouystown, Campbellville and Region Five from next week.
Anil has contacted a few lawyers for the upcoming exercise – need-to-know basis only. The General Secretary is going to organize funding when he visits Canada, Suriname and New York. About 500 supporters in Queens are still on the voters list. If a thousand or so can come to vote we will organize that.
Next week we will discuss what Gail learnt from the diplomatic community and one ExxonMobil subsidiary. Now go to work ’til next week!

How cancerous corruption thrives
One dictionary tells me that a “cancer” is a malignant tumour that tends to spread destructively; that word “cancer” can also mean a malignant evil that also spreads destructively.
Over the past five and a half decades (’64 – 2019) the cancer of corruption – whether fraudulent transactions in high places, thievery at corporate or para-military work places, conmanship – has engulfed the minds of too many. Economics, greed, get-rich-quick syndromes, something-for-doing-nothing all have promoted rampant dishonesty.
Frankly Speaking, I feel it will take an entire new future generation for Guyanese corrupt practices to be lessened. But why has corruption taken hold so pervasively? To me, after elections stealing from 1968 to 1985 the environment was set to spawn schemers and thieves at numerous levels. Then moral values of the past were jettisoned as persons migrated and tasted materialistic consumer-driven lifestyles. (You must acquire by hook or crook.) Many feel that they deserve rewards – however dubious.
Between 1997 to present young policemen knew corrupt, illegal exploitation at the top. So? Poor citizens saw wealth exposed by top officials. Suddenly! Then came the illegal drugs trade. That a certain grouping of Guyanese do not recognize stealing as wrong? As a sin? That wealth is there to be acquired – by any means necessary? What fertile ground for a sustained continuous cancer!

Concerning Speaker Scotland, Comrade Nadir
I’ve decided to curtail this portion, so the following are mere “teasers”.
I have high regard for Attorney-at-Law Dr Barton Scotland. He has a long list of qualifications. He is one of the best of His Excellency’s many unilateral picks. As current Speaker of Parliament his rulings are sometimes questionable but overall his management of a contentious House is commendable.
He is an expert on our case against Venezuela’s outlandish claim to our territory. And he ruled that the No-Confidence Vote was properly passed then refused to review his ruling when His Excellency’s folks approached him. I wonder what they speak of when he chats with His Excellency?
I once heard former United Force Leader Manzoor Nadir tell Dr Jagdeo in Parliament: “You got that degree in Moscow. My own is from Manchester!” Subtle busing. Manzoor led Mr D’Aguiar’s and Fielden Singh’s UF. I recall PNC fellows attacking his home opposite Congress Place Sophia. Then he told me on my NCN TV programme that his Mom met Bharrat Jagdeo in Canada. He then abandoned his CNS call-in programme On-Line and his taxi service to eventually become a minister for Dr Jagdeo. Ho-ho! Remember GuyExpo?
Frankly Speaking, I think he should be one of the PPP’s best and most shrewd spokespersons. Is he retired? Or tired? Comfortably so. An interesting and cunning backroom politician he was. Or is.

Why not ponder?
Why does a leader like Dr Jagdeo still want state authority? He is not poor. Not without international career opportunities. Because he is still “young”?
The People’s Militia will be available to assist the GDF in any crisis, natural disasters or heightened tensions. Was the Voters List very “bloated” before and during last November’s elections?
The SN editorial warns that we could be “oil rich but cash poor”.
Why is the Golden Jaguars Football head coach only visiting for nine days? Remember! Now is the time to ask the minister for what you need
Congrats to the Mashramani Central Committee for their Steelband Panorama and the Folk Night.
’Til next week!
