Dear Editor,
I respond to your editorial of February 21st headed `Too many campaigns not enough action’.
I wish to suggest that the Stabroek News publish a weekly page of pictures showing the flagrant encumbrances not only in Georgetown but nationwide. The public could be invited to send in pictures from which you can select the most glaring
My suggestion for a heading is “Disgraceful Eyesores”.
It is my personal opinion that only such action will yield results.
Contractors, home and business owners should be made to apply for permission to store building materials and waste and that specific specifications be laid out as to how the site should be prepared and be inspected for compliance before any material can be placed thereon. The permit should be given for a specific time and only renewed after the inspectors are satisfied than an extension is necessary. A thorough clean up should also be enforced or a hefty fine implemented.
Yours faithfully,
Bernard Ramsay
