Dear Editor,
I was saddened by the news of the recent passing of Isahak Bashir. All thoughts to the family.
Isahak was referred to me by the late Dr Gladstone Mitchell with a history of multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen. The attack occurred in a public place in full daylight. Dr Mitchell had generously and expertly provided initial care but preferred to have the patient hospitalized in a tertiary institution under my care. These were serious injuries that threatened the patient’s life.
Mr Bashir made a rapid and complete recovery. He remained indebted to Gladstone Mitchell and the two became lifelong friends. Isahak was a decent man. He became a loyal, trusted comrade. I hope the shooter was suitably punished. I also hope the patient received full compensation. My final hope is that such an event be never permitted to occur again in our land.
Yours faithfully,
Deen Sharma
