When the dust settled following the completion of the Trophy Stall annual golf tournament Saturday at the Lusignan Golf Club, Kevin Dinanauth was crowned champion of the A flight while Patanjalee Persaud and Clifford Reis won the B and C flights respectively.
In the A flight (0-15 handicap), Dinanauth earned a score of 68/6 after four birdies and six bogies.
He ended the tournament two over par, obtaining the Best Gross as well as the Best Net scores.
He was followed by Joaan Deo (70/15), LGC President Aleem Hussain (71/10), reigning Guyana Open Male Champion, Avinash Persaud (72/2) and Patrick Prashad (73/9) in that order.
Dinanauth, who had not played in a tournament since November said: “I have been practicing once a week, and today I was determined to focus on my game and play well.”
Over in the B flight (16-21 handicap), Reis ended the day 72/25 and was trailed by Jordi Pinol (74/28) who finished second. Keen competition came from Anasha Ally (74/28), Maurice Solomon (75/24); Eion Blue (75/28); Albert Rohan (75/25) and Last week’s LGC Valentine weekend champion Robert Hanoman (78/27).
Reis explained that the course was in fine condition and he enjoyed the good camaraderie and competition from the golfers in his group.
Meanwhile, in the 16 – 21 handicap C Flight, Persaud (71/16) led the way followed by Bholawram Deo (72/18), Hilbert Shields (73/16), Mahendra Bhagwandin (73/20), Aasrodeen Shaw (76/16) and Brian Glasford (76/17). According to the LGC, Trophy Stall, now operating from Bourda Market and South Road, Bourda, through Its Managing Director Ramesh Sunich continues to provide sterling support to golf in Guyana, having begun its involvement some 20 years ago, with sponsored tournaments held annually over the last decade.
Approximately 50 golfers participated in the tournament and among those in attendance were Halifax UK Football Club President, Robert Holmes.
