Head Coach of the Barbados Pride, Emmerson Trotman, says his side is looking forward to the challenge from the Guyana Jaguars when the two meet in the ninth round of the Cricket West Indies Regional Four-Day Championships from today at the Providence National Stadium.
“The guys are very happy and they always look forward to playing against Guyana and it should be a very good game,” the 64-year-old said.
Trotman noted that despite being beaten by Jaguars in the last match-up, his team “knows how Guyana play their cricket. They play very well and they are strong and smart so we are looking forward for that challenge.”
He admitted that his side has made a few mistakes in the previous rounds but sits comfortably in third position.
“The mistakes we have been making it’s because we are a young side which has been trying to get on its feet which takes a bit of time.”
He, however, said that the players were maturing nicely and beginning to understand the seriousness of the cricket at this level.
“So we are quite comfortable at the moment,” he declared.
Trotman pointed out that the team was comfortable after fulfilling their desire of leaving St. Vincent where they won their last match against the Windward Island Volcanoes.
The former wicketkeeper/batsman indicated that Providence has always been a beautiful place to play and opined that the wicket seems “pretty good,” and one which the Bajans look forward to playing on.
Jonathan Carter has been the consistent batsman for Barbados with one century and four half centuries so far while Shane Moseley (331 runs) and Tevyn Walcott (321 runs) have supported with the bat.
Left arm spinner, Jomel Warrican leads the bowling with 24 wickets so far.
The first ball bowls off at 09:30 hrs.
