Defending male outdoor champions Pepsi Hikers Hockey Club were on the better side of another goal-scoring frenzy in the latest round of this year’s first Division Outdoor League.
Hikers hammered Old Fort 11-0 at Saints Ground on Saturday. The win was orchestrated by top strikers Aroydy Branford and Jamarj Assanah who wielded their lumber in ominous fashion, sharing in the process nine goals between them; Branford had five.
The other two goals were converted by Kevin Fogenay and Brian Asregado. Meanwhile, the contest between Bounty GCC and Saints ended in a scoreless draw.
Hikers, on Sunday at the same venue, recorded their second win of the weekend when they defeated Supernova 2-0. Randy Hope and Colonel Heywood were the men to hit the back of the net on this occasion.
It was redemption Sunday for the “Saints” who managed to sneak pass Old Fort by a 4-2 score line. The match was tied a 2-2 at the half after conversions from Theodore Thierens and Daniel Woolford for Old Fort and Kwesi Lewis and Hilton Chester for Saints.
Chester disallowed what was seemingly heading for a draw by netting the two other goals which separated the two teams. Meanwhile, Tuesday evening saw GBTI GCC exercising little mercy over their junior counterparts, Bingo GCC Spartans by whipping them 9-0.
Carina Moller, Gabriella Xavier, and Sonia Jardine all had two strikes past the upright while Marzana Fiedtkou, Shebiki Baptise and Dominique De Groot shared the spoils by scores a goal each.
The league, which is sponsored by Woodpecker Products and Farfan and Mendes, will continue this weekend.
