The penultimate weekend of this year’s Guyana Hockey Board (GHB) first-division outdoor league saw defending champions Pepsi Hikers and Bounty GCC recording convincing wins at the St Stanislaus College ground yesterday.
Hikers, who recorded two wins on Saturday, continued their dominance by downing Old Fort 9-0. Brian Asregado and Aroydy Branford netted two goals each to set up the win while the other strikes were shared among the men in green to complete the drubbing.
GCC, on the other hand, got their way with Supernova – the national development team – by beating the junior 5-0. The consistent Meshach Sargeant, who always finds his way on GCC’s scorecard, netted two goals. Veteran Kevin Spencer also had two goals while Dwayne Scott scored the other goal. Meanwhile, the contest between GCC Vintage and St. Stanislaus ended in a nil-nil draw.
The league, which is sponsored by Woodpecker Products and Farfan and Mendes will conclude over the weekend.
