Centuries from Mitra Dhanraj, Saeed Persaud and Brandon Jaikarran highlighted the latest round of the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA), Noble House Seafoods Generation Next 100-over U-19 tournament in a contest between ECO Champs and Queen’s College at Gandhi Youth Organisation ground on Saturday last.
Batting first, ECO Champs piled on 375 for 5 from 55 overs with Dhanraj, who batted the entire innings, ending unbeaten on 138 inclusive of 19 fours and four maximums.
He received support from Persaud who also recorded a century – 116 – and was involved in a 290-run stand with the other centurion, Dhnaraj.
Female national player Cherry Ann Fraser (26) was also among the runs as Vikash Jaikarran (3-43) ended as the pick of the bowlers for QC, who in their turn at the crease, stitched together 315-5.
It was an impressive response, composed around an unbeaten innings from Brandon Jaikarran, who eased 14 fours and five sixes in his unbeaten knock of 137.
He got support from his opening partner Bhadesh Persaud (88). The pair added 201 for the opening stand.
Ryan Seecharan (3-22) and Fabian Housein (2-20) spearheaded Eco Champs bowling effort as the match ended in a draw.
