(Barbados Nation) Another school has closed because of environmental issues. And Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw is asking parents and teachers for their patience.
Bradshaw said the closure of All Saints’ School in St Peter on Thursday was being urgently looked at with the support of the Ministries of Health and the Environment, which were working together to fix the issues.
All Saints’ joins the list of several primary schools which have been closed in recent times, including Milton Lynch, St James, Blackman and Gollop and Cuthbert Moore.
“We were made aware of the issues at the school [All Saints’] on Monday. I suspect, due to the harvesting of the sugar cane, what has happened is the rats have taken over the institution and have done some breeding within the roofs of some parts of the premises. The Ministry of Health would have intervened and would have baited,” said the minister.
