The police in ‘A’ Division are investigating the death of a 50-year-old caretaker, whose lifeless body was yesterday morning discovered in the yard of the Castello Housing Scheme property he oversaw for a number of years.
He has been identified as Lancelot Grandsoult.
Grandsoult was discovered lying face down at Lot 22 Castello Housing Scheme, Georgetown around 7.30am by residents of the area.
At the time, he was shirtless. A container containing what appears to be blood was found next to his body.
While there were no visible marks of violence about this body, blood was reportedly seen around his nose and mouth.
The police were summoned to the scene.
Stabroek News understands that Grandsoult worked as a caretaker at the house for about ten years. The owner of the house resides overseas.
Grandsoult also did the same job at an internet café in the area. He would open the business every morning.
Janet Hubert, the mother of the owner of the house related to Stabroek News that she does not suspect foul play since Grandsoult was a ‘sickly’ individual.
“The other day I came and I saw him (Grandsoult) walking coming to the gate very slowly and I ask him ‘Lance you okay?’ and he said ‘yes’ but he didn’t look so”, Hubert said.
She added that Grandsoult would usually “keep to himself’.
She said the relatives are awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine how Grandsoult died.
Grandsoult’s body is currently at the Lyken’s funeral home awaiting an autopsy which is scheduled to be conducted sometime this week.
