Defending champions Barbados registered their second win in as many matches after they brushed aside the Windward Islands by 241 runs in the Colonial Medical Insurance Women’s Super50 tournament at Providence, yesterday.
The day began with theWindwards winning the toss and inviting Barbados to take first strike, a decision they rued as Barbados piled on a massive 334-3 from their allotted overs.
Skipper and West Indies batting sensation Hayley Matthews scorched an inning of 91, decorated with 13 fours and a maximum. Matthews received able support from fellow West Indian pair Deandra Dottin and Kycia Knight who were equally as severe on the bowling.
The dangerous Dottin swatted an unbeaten 94 from 50 deliveries which included 15 fours and two sixes while Knight stroked eight fours in her contribution of 81.
Windward in response, were castled for a mere 93 runs with Shamilia Connell leading the way with 3-36 while Matthews, who continues to display her fine all-round ability, supported with 2- 19 to rout their counterparts.
Only Afy Fletcher (24) and Akeira Peters (19) mustered any resistance.
