Bel Air Rubis defeated Everest Cricket Club by four wickets in the Georgetown Cricket Association/ Noble House Seafoods Generation Next Under-19 tournament at Ogle Community Centre on Saturday.
Everest batted first and posted 147 from 49 overs while Bel Air Rubis required 28.3 overs to reach 150-6 as Andrew Samaroo sealed the victory with a six.
Samaroo finished unbeaten on a top score of 35 consisting of one six and five fours while Davanand Khemraj and Rudranauth Kissoon supported with 17 runs each.
Earlier, opener Mark Sukhai smashed six boundaries in a quickfire 29 while sharing a 36-run opening partnership with Nand Sanicharan (06).
Leg-spinner, Ushardiva Balgobin bagged 2-37 while off-spinner Aaron Beharry returned 2-22 as Reynaldo Mohammed took 1-27 with his left-arm orthodox.
Everest’s innings was built from a second-wicket partnership of 30 between Alex Algoo and Balgobin who both stroked 22 consisting of four boundaries each.
The middle order found starts with Ariel Tilku (13), Carl Gilgeous (18) and Beharry (11) looking comfortable at the crease as well as Jason Payne who scored 12 batting at number 10 before being bowled by Samaroo.
Off-spinner, Shivanand Gosain was the architect of Everest’s restriction, taking 4-10 from 10 overs with Kissoon and Samaroo supporting with two wickets each.
