(Trinidad Express) Accused wife killer Dominic Guevara reappeared in court on Friday.
Guevara, the husband of primary school teacher Margaret Ragoobar-Guevara, reappeared in the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court.
Guevara, a 46-year-old beekeeper of Coalmine, Sangre Grande, is also charged with the offence of attempted suicide.
His wife, a 41-year-old teacher of St Francis RC Primary School, was fatally shot following an argument with her husband at their Coalmine home on February 26, 2018.
Following the incident, Guevara shot himself in the face with a shotgun, in a failed suicide attempt.
He was taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital for emergency medical treatment and had been hospitalised.
Upon his discharge from hospital on Monday, Guevara was arrested by officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region 2, and later charged by PC Ramdial.
Investigations were supervised by acting ASP Dhillpaul and Insp Craig, both of HBI Region 2.
When Guevara was taken to court on Thursday, he appeared before a justice of the peace.
A request was made to his attorneys Cherish John and Nigel Brown for Section 13 of the Mental Health Act to be invoked and for his client to be sent the St Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital for a mental evaluation.
The presiding Justice of the Peace advised the attorneys to make that request to the magistrate on Friday.
This was done and Guevara was remanded at St Ann’s Hospital for evaluation.
The case was postponed to April 5.
